Maternity sessions are focused on Mommy-to-Be. The optimal time for your Maternity Session is between 28 and 34 weeks. It is best to book your appointment with us early in the second trimester to guarantee that your preferred appointment date and time can be accommodated. We will accept last minute bookings where there is availability. Your Maternity Session can take place either in studio or outdoors. The session fee includes the use of our gown collection and props during our session, and several wardrobe changes are permitted. There are two private change rooms for your use in the studio, and we also have a portable change room available for your convenience during outdoor sessions. If you’d like some extra pampering during your session, hair and makeup services are available in studio. Newborn only

Newborn Sessions are focused on your newly arrived bundle of joy.  Session appointments should be booked well in advance and are originally based on your due date, but now and again we can accept last minute bookings.  Since Newborn Sessions should take place within 10 to 15 days of your baby's birth, your appointment date and time will be adjusted once your baby is born.  The session fee includes the use of our curated collection of newborn outfits, wraps, and props.  Sessions are quite lengthy, lasting anywhere from 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours, allowing for time to feed and soothe baby in order to get those beautiful sleeping poses.  We will make sure that you are well taken care of and have some time to rest while we pose and photograph your baby. When you book your session, you will receive a detailed Welcome Package, outlining how to best prepare for your Newborn Session, and what to expect while you are in the studio.

Newborn & Family

During a Newborn and Family Session, images of both parents and each immediate family member will be captured with your new addition, as well as a family portrait or few.  Depending on circumstances, both sessions can be done in one day.  If siblings are involved, the sessions can take place either at different times on the same day, or on different days within two weeks of baby's birth.  An additional charge of $25 per person applies to families greater than 5 people.

Baby posing and newborn safety

At Danita Hosking Photography, you can rest assured that your baby is in good hands. I take baby posing and safety very seriously, and I am a founding member of Accredited Professional Newborn Photographers International. I have spent many years learning about posing newborns safely, and in 2020, I was one of 11 newborn photographers across Canada to receive in-person training from Kelly Brown, who is a world renowned newborn photographer, newborn photography educator, and the owner of Little Pieces Photography, in Brisbane, Australia. You have my promise that every precaution is taken to ensure that your baby is safe and comfortable while in my care during your session.

WHAT shoulD I bring?

We will go over all of the details with you at your consultation, but to ease your mind until then, all you need to bring with you is your baby, your usual diaper bag, and some extra expressed milk or formula. Our newborn studio is fully stocked with anything you could possibly need during your session, with the exception of formula.

illness POLICY

Should you or your family members (or I or mine) become ill, your session will immediately be postponed in order to ensure the safety of everyone, especially your newborn baby. It may seem inconvenient, but newborns do not have a fully developed immune system, and we will not take chances when it comes to your baby’s health and safety. We will happily reschedule when everyone is well again and it is safe to proceed with your session.
